The Mind-Gut Connection

Review

This book describes the science behind the microbiome, and how your brain and your digestive system are intimately connected, meaning that what you eat has a large impact on how well you think logically and navigate emotionally.

The most interesting takeaway for me was how negative emotions like anger or anxiety disrupt your microbiome and wreak havoc on your digestion. Being chronically angry, anxious, or stressed can cause diarrhea, belly pain, and a gut that is less efficient at absorbing nutrients.
