How to Do Things: Summary and Review
How to Do Things: Productivity for the Productivity-Challenged by David Cain
Review
“How to Do Things” is a guide for anyone who finds most “productivity systems” to be too complex or too frustrating to follow after the initial zeal fades away.
The author has ADHD and wrote it specifically for people who have difficulty working from home, haven’t had success implementing methods in other popular productivity books, or otherwise have to manage other executive function issues.
It’s a very short book (only 36 pages) and describes “The Block Method”, a way of dividing up tasks into discrete, focused blocks that feel satisfying and rewarding to accomplish, instead of feeling like you are falling behind by not living up to “the system”.
